I am currently working in Financial Services (operations) in San Diego. It is the industry that I got into in college, but I am not sure it is right for me. What do you all do and how did you get started?

I'm in Risk Management. I enjoy it. I went to college to become a high school English teacher, but decided it wasn't for me after student teaching.

1right now I'm working in retail but got a degree in psychology. I really would like to get to the mental health field, but the jobs out there are so minimal. I moved to Fl from NJ a little over a year ago, hopefully in a few months i'll be financially ready to move somewhere where i can find something that fits me.
2I started in the work force the summer before high school graduation. I worked for a gentleman who owned 3 ladies apparel stores eventually 6. I started out doing inside displays and all of the window displays. I then became a buyer and traveled to Chicago and New York frequently. After I had children I managed a Dry Cleaner for a friend of my ex- boss. I have been a stay at home mom and have started a redecorating business. I would love to get my business out there more, any suggestions? I have had three clients and have been sent rave reviews in their thank you notes. I live in a small farm town in Illinois in the Quad City area.
3Hi Melinda, I have a couple of suggestions for free ways to get your business out there, have you ever looked into yelp.com or kudzu.com? You should have your happy customers write reviews for you. I use those websites a lot for home improvement stuff and yelp for fun things to do around town. I hope that helps
4I am a former medical professional (ultrasound & vascular imaging x 20 years) currently back in college studying law and medicine but seriously thinking about leaving medicine all together. It is just hard to leave something that has been such a big part of my life for so long.
Currently with full-time school and a job working in the OR... I feel I need to make a whole new step into a completely different direction. If I could earn a living with my writing I'd be so happy!
Have to pay the bills so I am thinking about perhaps graphic arts. Always have been creative. I have sold every water color I have ever painted....but feel nervous about focusing on that as actual income. Graphic arts would allow me to be creative and bring in a real income.
I guess my issue is I can't make up my mind. You'd think that at being almost 50 I'd have this figured out by now.
I wonder what degree I'd need to actually get a job in graphic arts...if I could use my medical background at all.
